Dr. John A. Stramaglia

Dr. Stramaglia received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Bologna, Italy in 1985. A native of Fairfield County, he graduated from Darien High School and attended Syracuse University, earning his BS in biology. Dr. Stramaglia is also licensed to practice veterinary medicine throughout Europe. Dr. Stramaglia joined Broad River Animal Hospital in 1986 and he recently celebrated his 33rd anniversary with us. His areas of interest include canine and feline internal medicine, and greyhound rescue. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, the Fairfield Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.


Dr. Michele K. Lamothe

Dr. Lamothe received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. Before joining Broad River Animal Hospital in 1994, she practiced in New York and Pennsylvania, and spent three years as a part-time emergency veterinarian. In 1999, Dr. Lamothe became a partner of Broad River Animal Hospital and owner in 2015. Dr. Lamothe's professional interests include soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, geriatric medicine, feline medicine and surgery, and ultrasound. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Fairfield County Veterinary Medical Association, Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Association of Feline Practitioners and the Veterinary Managers Council of Connecticut.  Dr. Lamothe has 2 & "3/4" rescued kitties: "Mama Mia", "Mad Max" and her 3-legged kitty "Nubbin' but Trouble" (aka "The Nubster"). "What I enjoy most about being a veterinarian is the long term bonds I have developed with both my clients and their pets. I deeply value the trust that has developed and it enables me to really partner with my clients in all aspects of their pet's health care." When she's not at the hospital, you will probably find her in her garden, or cycling around Fairfield County.


Dr. Elizabeth M. Zimels

Dr. Zimels grew up in Chappaqua, New York, and lived in New York City for five years, where she earned her BA at Columbia, and worked as a paralegal. She then decided to pursue veterinary medicine, fulfilling the prerequisites for veterinary school at California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo, and completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1996. Dr. Zimels worked at Broad River Animal Hospital from 1997-2002, and returned in 2006. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Fairfield Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association. Dr. Zimels is interested in soft tissue surgery and supporting the human-animal bond.


Dr. Nicole A. Martimucci

Dr. Martimucci grew up on Long Island in Oyster Bay Cove, NY. From an early age she knew her passion was working with animals. At the age of 14, she eagerly obtained her working papers and started her first job as a veterinary assistant. From there she went on to become a New York State licensed veterinary technician in 2007. While working as a veterinary technician she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2011 from Stony Brook University. She then obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year at The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Martimucci practiced as an associate veterinarian in New York's Hudson Valley following graduation. She currently resides in Ridgefield, Connecticut and joined the Broad River Animal Hospital team in 2018. Dr. Martimucci is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, The New York State Veterinary Medical Association, The Fairfield County Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Feline Practitioners and is a USDA accredited veterinarian. Her professional interests include internal medicine, feline, canine and rabbit medicine; soft tissue surgery; dentistry and promoting the human-animal bond. Dr. Martimucci has 4 senior kitties:"Dinah", "Georgie", "Piper" and "Squeak." Outside of practicing veterinary medicine, she enjoys oil painting, hiking, horseback riding, music, theatre, spending time with her family, and helping out the community.

Dr. Gregory Brzoska

Dr. Brzoska, a Fairfield County native, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and went on to graduate from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. 
A past president of the Fairfield County Veterinary Medical Association, he continues to be a participating member of the Fairfield County, Connecticut, and American Veterinary Medical Associations. He is a USDA Accredited Veterinarian and has been a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society since the organization's beginning years. His special interests include surgery, critical care medicine, endoscopy, and ultrasound. He is also drawn to the treatment of wildlife and exotic species.
In his free time, Dr. Brzoska loves boating, travel, and spending time with his wife, Kathie, and three children.


Dr. Edward G. Senker, Emeritus

Dr. Senker is the founder of Broad River Animal Hospital and "retired" in December 2014. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1969. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Senker received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland. Following graduation from veterinary school, he practiced small animal medicine in Stamford, Connecticut from 1969 to 1978, and in 1979 founded Broad River Animal Hospital. He is past president of the Fairfield County Veterinary Medical Association. Dr Senker has been certified in veterinary acupuncture for over 20 years. You may still find Dr. Senker filling in at the hospital from time to time when he's not too busy with the demands of retirement and his eight grandchildren!
